The Eisenbeton Schiffbau Gesellschaft m.b.H, Hamburg, was established on April 11 1917, with a share capital of £4.900, for the construction of reinforced-concrete vessels.
Most of the founders was from shipping circles.
The company purpose to build lighters and motor cargo vessels on Rudiger's patented system, and had a order from the Kaiserlichen Werft (Wilhelmshaven) for a motor cargo vessel and a seaworthy coal lighter of 250 to 300 dwt, the Reichdmarinamt (Berlin)
Approved of the new construction before these orders were placed.
The Germaische Lloyd examined the design thoroughly and expressed its willingness to do everything in its power to further the development of the new system.
Vessels built by the company was to be accepted for insurance at normal rates. After completing the first orders, the company purpose to build a motor cargo vessel of 500 to 600 dwt. capacity, with a 300 h.p. Diesel motor, on its own account.

A sea-going lighter of  1.200 tons d.w. capacity was ordered by the Hamburg - Amerika Line, and was to be built at the Lubeck yard of this firm.
The vessel is to be completed in six months.
