The Vestlandske Betonbaatbyggeri (Bergen), founded 1917, with £19,350 capital. The yard is in a large concern, working under the Alfsen patents ; to begin with, the yard has two building ways for 300-ton vessels, and two for 1,000-ton vessels.

Norwegian Ferro-Concrete Shipbuilding.
According to "N.H. og S.T." , the new Vestlandske Betonbaatbyggeri (Bergen) has built its first 200-ton lighter on the Alfrens system and launched it keel upwards. The principal dimensions are as follows: 93 ft. by 19 3/4 ft. by 9 ft., Hull thickness, with double armouring, 70 mm. ( 90 mm. in bow), floor pieces, 150 by 600 mm., frame distance 1000 mm., four watertight bulkheads, two main and two small hatchways, iron stem and stern post. The equipment of this yard was commenced last May. Two slipways for lighters up.to 400 tons are completed, and one for vessels up yo 2,000 tons is under construction. The yard is in a position to build lighters of 200 to 250 tons and motorvessels of 150 to 250 tons, according to Norsk Veritas rules, and a 1,000 tons ferro-concrete steamship (£ 18 10s. per ton dw.) has been accepted for delivery this year.
