21/5 1935: Delivered to Stockholms Rederi AB Svea, Stockholm as
WARUN. 13/12 1939 - 25/10 1945: On T/C to the Swedish Navy as Auxillary ship No.5 and rebuild to a mine layer. 25/10 1945: Returned toStockholms Rederi AB Svea, Stockholm as WARUN. 3/8 1956: Grounded at Hävringe and developed a fire in hold #2. Abandoned. Later refloated and towed to Finnboda Varf, Stockholm where she was condemned as a total loss. The wreck was sold to Sten A Olsson (STENA), Gothenburg Repaired and lengthened with 12,2 meter at Sölvesborgs Varv. (New tonnage: Dwt: 1.500, Grt: 993). 1957: Sold to P/R for m.s. MARGIT ( H Sjösten), Gothenburg. Renamed MARGIT. 1964: Sold to Stena AB, Gothenburg. 1965: Sold to Levante Shipping Co., Famagusta, Cyprus. Renamed ARISTIDES. 1979: Sold to Astritis Maritime Inc., Panama. Renamed RIVER SIDE. 22/5 1980: Confiscated by Italian Customs outside Italy for cigarettsmuggling and towed to Salerno, Italy where she was laid in arrest. After this there is a lot of rumours of what happend to her, One is that the Italian Navy took over her and used her as a mine laying ship, another is that she was scrapped in Salerno. However she is stricken in Lloyds Register first 1984. |
